Circo Zero Company History
Sep 2001 In The Street Festival, Ellis Street, SF With a rented crane for the circus artists and a chorus of 20 dancers in hand-painted pink gowns, Circo Zero emerged as The Pink Party.
Jan 2002 Great Ball of Fire, The Crucible, Oakland Circus artists in the rafters and suspended from an available forklift, Circo Zero debuts its original mix of poetic circus and American roots accapella singing.
Apr 2002 Grand Opening,GLBT Center, SF With elevated singers, aerialists hanging from balconies, complete with wading pool and bathing suits, Circo Zero transformed the main foyer.
Apr 2002 Radical Performance Festival, Somarts, SF The women of Circo Zero in an aerial extravaganza to benefit radical, community-based art projects.
May 2002 ICE Fest, University of Georgia, Athens GA A mini-tour to test our full-evening show and to create new material in collaboration with Miranda July and local artists, students and faculty.
Jun 2002 Theater Artaud, SF World Premiere of Circo Zero co-sponsored by ODC Offsite, National Queer Arts Festival and Circo Zero's non-profit CounterPULSE. Four week run, sold out performances, over 3000 audience served. Three cheers.
Aug 2002 Promo video/short film completed
Fall 2002 Soundtrack recording and CD production with sound engineer Norman Rutherford and Out of Round Records. To be released February 2003.
Winter 2002-03 Rehearsals. Evolution of the work.
Spring, Summer, Fall 2003 Local gigs and (cross our fingers) national, and international touring.
