HOW TO DIE
In 2006 I completed work on How To Die, a powerhouse of political performance featuring Jules Beckman (Marseille) and Seth Eisen (San Francisco). How To Die is a two-part elegy about death by despair, a political metaphor about suicidal tendencies in US society, and an imploding confusion of personal and social symbols and images. The work was commissioned in France and has been presented by experimental dance-performance spaces in France and San Francisco. Click here for pics and more info.

SOL NIGER
Also in 2006, and also thanks to French funding, I took a group of artists to France for six weeks to make Sol niger, a unique and experimental fusion of dance, circus, performance and music, featuring Emily Leap, Sean Feit, Seth Eisen, Brett Womack, Max and myself. The central metaphor of the work is sol niger, an alchemical symbol that references a solar eclipse, the black sun, a period of darkness that illuminates truths not apparent in direct light, a psychic/psychological process of finding the strange light within darkness. The piece also uses sol niger as a political metaphor for different kinds of darkness and lack of vision, especially in US foreign policy. Click here for pics and more info.
