Dearest
fans and friends
Believe it or not, Im trying to slow down to focus on school.
I'm at UC Davis working towards an MFA, and Im teaching too...
Nonetheless I keep doing small gigs and teaching and am scheming
some larger projects too.l
Exciting news
for aerialists: French rope artist (web, corde lisse) Fanny Soriano
will be teaching adv. beginner and intermediate classes at Cellspace,
Jan 7 & 8. To register, contact me, keith@circozero.org
I have no plans
for big shows in SF, partly because of school and also because Ive
been turned down by every grant I wrote this year, despite spending
over $5000 on grantwriters!
The good news
is that Ive received several offers to make work in France,
where Circo Zero and I will spend most of summer 2006.
In March 2006,
I will be making a new piece with Seth Eisen & Jules Beckman
at Les Laboratoires, an artist lab in a Paris suburb. The work,
American Tweaker, is part of a full-evening project called How To
Die, which deals with suicidal tendencies (social and personal)
in US culture. The first half of the project, SDF (Homeless) USA,
was made in 2005 with Jules Beckman at Les Subsistances, an amazing
artist space in an ancient nunnery in Lyon, France.
thanks, Keith

Les Subsistances
Performances and research on the theme: representations of cruelty
and violence. Participating in Collective des têtes coupées,
staging works by Robert Olin Butler. I’ll be making a new
work with buddy and new daddy Jules Beckman, using the story of
a homeless man who commits suicide by laying his neck on the rail
of an approaching train, as a poetic portrait of American despair,
specifically the failed masculine America. The piece uses San Francisco’s
Street Sheet (published by the Coalition on Homelessness) for information,
inspiration and as primary materials.

A workshop for dancers, performers and provocateurs. Using tools
